Blowing their own trumpet

trumpet
So it is Christmas and we have one of the owners, or, more accurately, her partner, boasting on Facebook about how many new members and unique visitors Legal Beagles received in 2015. He also brags about their media coverage which is one thing the Beagles have always aimed for: publicity. He is claiming responsibility for bringing to justice a small time scammer who set up a site that appeared to be the official British passport site, collected people’s details and issued claims against those who realised the site was a fake and didn’t pay for his services.

All very laudable if it wasn’t for the fact that his post is also an insult to all those members who have ended up being booted out from the site for helping tirelessly round the clock. The unsung heroes as he calls them. Why should they remain unsung? Why not sing their praises? There aren’t that many contributors, surely they could post up their user names, why post only the names of the site team? Could it be because some of those unsung heroes have been rewarded with a ban for their efforts?

Christmas message

Festive BeagleDear All,

First off we want to say a massive thank you to all of you who have taken the time to contribute and help out others on the forum. You’re the unsung heroes on the site and we really can’t thank you enough.

2015 has been another super-busy year. We’ve welcomed a record 20,000 new members (up from 14,000 last year) and have had well over 2 million unique visitors browsing the site.

avatar1We (and many of you!) have been particularly busy assisting people in the Received A Court Claim?, Parking Charges and Employment forums and we’ve seen a marked increase in activity in Scams, Fraud & IT.

There have been countless successes across the board but as a team our biggest achievement must be dealing with the scores of victims facing legal action from misleading passport websites, resulting in a 100% win rate. We gained significant national media coverage of the issue on Radio 4 and in the Mail on Sunday and working with Trading Standards and other authorities we played a big part in collating the evidence which resulted in the arrest of 4 people and the seizure of the company’s assets.

Looking forward to 2016, one thing we’re not too happy about are the significant increases in court fees for defendants being planned ( rising from £155 to £255 for an application ) and we’d be grateful if you’d sign our petition opposing them.

On the bright side we have some big and exciting plans for early in the new year and we’ll let you know exactly what they are very soon – small hint.

Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2016.

with love

Kate, Nick, Sharon, Jules, Diane, Kati & Paul.

Yes this is what the forum is all about now and explains what has gone on with the culling of various parts of the forum. I have always said that Kate uses the forum as a fashion accessory, it is nothing to do with consumer help as far as she is concerned.
I do not know Kate and certainly have no axe to grind with her, but the evidence speaks for itself. The various attempts to use the “publicity” gained from the forum to support her ventures is well documented, and is echoed by the piece at the beginning of this thread.
Her recent employment was built in the promise of leads generated by the forum., previous failed attempted to gain credibility are tucked away in the VIP area, who can forget the doomed default notice reclaims idea which was supposed to secure her employment with the now defunct Watsons Solicitors and then the SD business generated for her most resent employer.

The forum is now IMO trying to stay away from the more difficult consumer issues in order to present a showcase for her and her backers future business ventures, as you say it is all very sad.

Of course there is a problem in all this , in that questions form people visiting the site have to be answered, the team dont really care about these, wo what to do ? The answer is to recruit people like Nemesis (Brigadier) to field all the consumer questions, they will do this under the impression tha that their efforts are appreciated, in fact they are being used and the team do ont really care bout the accuracy of his post , like many previous advisers, as llng as they answer questions and make the forum look like it gives a toss.

Yes, this isn’t personal, as we can see, it involves a number of people whose management styles are as different as their personal objectives. Other than the site owners, we can see above “Diane, Kati and Paul”. These are site team members who, like a few others in the past, could be gone tomorrow. Like the rest of contributors who built up the site and have kept it going this long, they are also being used. Paul for his legal expertise as he is the only real “Legal Beagle” amongst them, the other two ladies do the dirty work so to speak: they clear out the spam, merge threads, delete duplicate posts, etc. which, on a site that size, can be a full time job and they’d have to pay someone else at least minimum wage to perform those tasks.

The thirst for publicity explains the recent focus on scams involving large numbers of people, as opposed to more complex consumer issues that require more expertise and resources and won’t get them publicity. The BPS claims were not hard to defend because they were issued without a cause of action. They were all in the region of £170. If you have 100 people affected, you’re looking at £17,000 and you’d have 100 people singing the forum owners’ praises instead of one with a large claim for £17,000 which would take longer to go through the “fast-track” process than 100 small claims.

Nemesis clearly hasn’t got anything to do in life other than post on forums. Having been booted out of the larger and much more active CAG where he was King for many years, he sought refuge on Legal Beagles where the management were easily taken by his claims of expertise as seen here: http://www.legalallsorts.co.uk/blog/to-be-or-not-to-be/

There is also a link that was left out at the end of that Facebook quote because we are not here to help them go viral or increase their traffic. It goes to a new Legal Services Comparison Site, currently under construction.

Now Mr Siddle on behalf of LB are blowing their own trumpet on Linked in with the achievement which has been made with stripping Carl Wright of all his assets which was my baby and my contact with ITUS . This is my response on Linked in. I hope he understands that they cannot take all the glory.

“I am really pleased that all my hard work with CMC’s on being the first one on LB to make contact with ITUS has now paid off. I always knew we would one day get Carl Wright banged to rights. It is just a pity a prison sentence has not yet been given but guess the severity of his frauds he will get put away so he cannot reap further rewards from the unsuspecting public again. This case and Client Connection as well as all the other CMC’s were stopped as soon as we found out of the scams of collecting large sums of money up front. “

    • Legaleaglet says:

It is absolutely outrageous in more ways than one. First of all, they unceremoniously removed the person who had been responsible for fighting the CMCs alongside the Legal Beagles owners, without so much as a bye or leave, let alone giving credit where credit is due. A little credit where it’s due goes a long way. I’m sure they wouldn’t want anyone else to take the credit for something they’ve achieved, yet they constantly do that with all their members’ contributions.

As if that wasn’t enough, they now have LB Compare where they endorse a number of Claims Management Companies, the very same types of bu$ine$$e$ they fought against all these years, arguing that people were perfectly capable of doing their own reclaims by themselves, with a little help from a few skilled friends on Legal Beagles.

Looks like their ethics have flown south over the winter!

Don’t worry about it, those who matter will realise that it was you that did all the hard work, sadly they have short memories

Maybe I am sticking this on the wrong thread but

Seems that someone has had their nose put out of joint with Cabot UK , although I have to agree it is a travesty that someone based in the UK can buy a regulated debt without being regulated and then appointed a regulated firm to collect it . It is contrary to what the FCA told me . I suppose it is the same as someone based in Luxembourg buying a debt and then appointing a uk based DCA to collect it

I see that teaboy and Charity have both crawled out of the woodwork

It seems to me that most of the posts now are about either employment or parking , I really feel for people being chased by creditors. There is nowhere that is good anymore. If anyone goes to cag they are berated by DX for being cash cowed and fleeced , if they go to LB they are left high n dry. I guess MSE are still telling you to cancel sky !

No worries, micromanagement master Shazza isn’t an admin in this neck of the woods.

One thing is to collect, another is to enforce. A company can appoint another entity to collect for them but the collector hasn’t got the right to enforce the agreement because they do not own the account. What we have with Cabot is an unauthorised company issuing claims to enforce debts.

The problem with the FCA is that it’s less than two years old and a lot of the law in this country is case law arising from decisions made by the courts, however, it takes over a year for a simple fast track case to reach the hearing stage in the county court, much longer than that to go through the appeals process required to generate case law.

I see that teaboy and Charity have both crawled out of the woodwork

Teaboy has always been like a seagull who flies in, makes a lot of noise, craps over everything and flies out again till next time so nothing unusual there, however, Charity had not been back since the Brighton meet over two years ago.

As their name suggests, MSE are all about saving money for whatever purpose, debt repayment being just one of them. What’s most annoying about that site is the number of self-righteous, judgemental people who post lectures rather than practical solutions. A lot of them seem to live in a parallel universe and have false memories where the 60s were, apparently, a time when there was no welfare, people worked 18 hours a day and walked 10 miles each way to buy cheap food and cooked it over a couple of candles, and can’t understand why we are not prepared to live like that these days. Seriously, someone actually posted: “if they can’t afford electricity, what’s wrong with using candles?” Are they for real?
Sounds like there is a gap in the market for a new consumer resource!

We have a new post dedicated to the latest trumpet being blown by the Beagles here: No credit where credit is due.

  7. Legaleaglet says:

Those Beagles love blowing their own trumpet, especially Jules, who posted up a little gem on LinkedIN, to brag about the Carl Wright affair, only he forgot to mention those who had actually been involved in dealing with the case at the time. In fact, he wasn’t even involved. Some ex-Beagles decided to post comments and he swiftly had them removed, however, they can still be read here: Inconvenient truths.
